Eligibility EDCO Youth Alternative is jointly funded by the City of Boston, the Boston Public Schools, the US Department of Labor and other sponsoring agencies. Due to the guidelines set by these funding sources, there are various eligibility requirements for prospective EDCO students.

All prospective EDCO students must successfully complete the application process and also present documents to verify that they are:
  • Boston residents.
  • Youth who range in age from 16-21 and are in grades 9 thru 12.
  • Members of a low to low/middle income household.
  • U.S. Citizens or work-eligible¬†
  • Registered with Selective Service (for males 18 or older)
  • Demonstrating one or more of the following:
    • Deficient in basic academic skills
    • School Dropout
    • A homeless, runaway, or foster child
    • Pregnant or parenting
    • An offender
    • A youth requiring additional assistance to complete an educational program, or to secure and hold employment
